Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1958 Jaguar XK-SERIES recalls can be found in this database. Additional Description: For sale in St. Louis, MO is a beautiful XK150 Fixed Head coupe finished in it's original Old English White exterior finish, complemented by an all original Red Leather interior! An exceptional, all numbers matching, classic Jaguar with a remarkably solid body & chassis that has been on the West coast for much of its life. This Jaguar XK150 has been wonderfully restored cosmetically and mechanically by Treasured Motorcar Services in 2014, a splendid investment for those looking for a ready driver! History About Jaguar's XK150 Model: Boasting from the success of the XK120 on the race track, Jaguar designers had counter some criticisms in order to keep reeling in buyers. This led to the introduction of the XK140 in 1954 with larger interior cabin space by moving the engine, firewall, and dash all forward by 3" to accommodate taller drivers. Mechanically, it received effortless rack & pinion steering, along with, improved brakes and suspension travel with shock absorbing dampening. Cosmetically the new XK150 model appeared nearly the same, with the exception of larger bumpers with over riders, a one piece grill accented with trim that ran over the hood through to the deck lid and special Jaguar emblems were affixed. The one on the trunk lid made subtle mention of its heritage being the Winner or Le Mans from 1951-1953! The XK140 continued to dominate on the racetrack with LeMans wins in 1955, 1956, and 1957! Changes to the platform were once again made to provide more interior space and comfort for the new 1958 XK150 model. Although this time the shape of the exterior was radically refined with a taller belt-line and an overall more sculpted shape. The hood was wider and the windshield was now a one-piece unit for better visibility. On the fixed head coupes, the windshield was moved forward 4 inches creating a beautiful roof line and excellent interior cabin space! The Jaguar XK150 would be one of Jaguars best sellers with 4,445 FHC coupes manufactured between 1957 and 1961. Hailing from California as a black plate vehicle for most of its early life, it spent some time in Nevada before leaving for Maryland in 2013. Once there, the body was professionally repainted in August 2013 and remains very presentable today, while the interior leathers appear to remain original and in rather remarkable condition! The dash shows some sun fade, the balance of the interior is in very good condition indicating proper care, with clear functional gauges, and working safety items. Restoration efforts on our available '58 Jaguar was completed by Treasured Motorcar Services, LTD based in Reisterstown, MD (now operating from New Freedom, PA) between August 2013 and August 2014. They began by pulling the engine and transmission, and fully disassembled the suspension and chassis components. Their team then stripped and media-blasted all components and fully rebuilt the brake and full suspension systems with all fresh components, including a full rebuild of the steering rack. After the body was repainted, the entire car was fitted with all new wiring (front, main, and rear) harnesses and new wood floors. All fuse panels were cleaned and repainted. The engine received all new freeze plugs, the original crankshaft was cleaned & ground, new main bearings & upper shells installed, fresh crankshaft seal, new rear main seal after machine conversion, new rod bearings, rebuilt harmonic balancer, resealed oil pump, all new engine gaskets, and more. New fuel lines & fuel pump, shocks, axles, driveshaft u-joints, rebuilt brake calipers, stainless brake lines, rebuilt clutch master & slave cylinders, single 12-volt battery conversion, Petronix electronic ignition, rebuilt generator with new brushes, high performance aluminum radiator, brand new 72-spoke wire wheels & tires, and much more were all fitted! A grand total of just over $79,000 in receipts will be provided to the next owner documenting these efforts. This fantastic XK150 example is skillfully tuned for easy starts and immediate enjoyment! It comes with a spare tire also fitted with new Coker Classic radial tire, original jack, crank handle, and oiler. The odometer upon arrival to our showroom read only 85,444 miles which would appear to be original, but the St. Louis Car Museum does not have enough evidence to support an actual mileage claim. The stated mileage at completion of the restoration was 84,920 miles, amounting to only 524 miles driven over the past 6 years. A splendid driver example and one eager to cruise all open roads with confidence!
